Designed for small and medium-sized businesses that are geared for growth, this NetGear ProSafe model offers ultra fast connections with its high-density 24-port configuration. Providing plenty of connectivity options for your computers, servers, printers and storage hardware, all ports deliver data transfer speeds of up to 1,000 megabits per second. To accommodate future expansions in business operations, this unit enables you to smoothly transition from fast Ethernet speeds to gigabit Ethernet and fiber optic connections without having to replace your current platform. It comes with two dedicated gigabit copper ports and two combination copper/hot swappable small form-factor pluggable (SFP) fiber optic ports to help you keep up with increasing demands for application and LAN services. The ProSafe FS728TP employs standard-based technologies to ensure interoperability with other devices that can be fully integrated into your existing system. This switch is compliant with standards established by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Providing support for the 802.3af standard, this unit comes with power over Ethernet (PoE) capability on all 24 10/100 RJ45 ports. Instead of implementing additional electrical cabling to power up your LAN, PoE enables your data cables to deliver electricity to your IEEE 802.3af PoE-compliant networked devices. PoE eliminates wall outlet dependence and gives you significant energy savings. With added support for the IEEE 802.3az energy-efficient Ethernet technology, you also get to build an eco-friendly digital environment. To give you extra peace of mind, security remains a top priority in all NetGear switches. This ProSafe model offers a range of robust security features and protocols to guard against data loss, invasion of privacy and other forms of malicious attacks. Some of these features include access control lists (ACLs) to either grant or restrict traffic based on IP and media access control (MAC) addresses, dynamic host configuration protocol filtering, authentication and port-based security by locked MAC. Monitoring, managing and troubleshooting the ProSafe FS728TP are also made easier with enhanced LAN management features and tools embedded into this device. These include a simple Web-based user interface, Internet group management protocol snooping for multicast streams, simple network management protocol (SNMP), auto voice virtual LAN for quick deployment of VoIP services, smart control center for firmware upgrade and an ACL wizard to facilitate network access control configuration.
