The GS116 model comes from the NetGear ProSafe family of gigabit unmanaged switches that offers a variety of port configurations and form factors. Optimized for gigabit Ethernet, this unit includes 16 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX/1000BASE-T RJ45 ports that enable you to connect up to 16 wired devices, including desktop computers, laptops, gaming consoles, printers, servers and storage hardware. Transfer data at 10 times the speed of fast Ethernet or up to 1000 megabits per second (Mbps) when the switch is operating in half-duplex mode. For even faster connectivity, enable full-duplex mode to achieve data transmission speeds of up to 2000 Mbps. Integrated with auto-switching and auto-sensing capabilities, each port automatically detects the speed and type of duplex operation of an attached device. The port then configures itself to the appropriate setting to ensure optimum network-wide performance. Combined with the Auto Uplink technology, ports automatically adjust for cross-over or straight-through cables. This frees you from worrying about which Ethernet cable to use when configuring your LAN.
