Reviews
"Books by [Joanna Bourne] are like a box of fine Laduree macaroons, not cheap junk food. They should be leisurely savored as the exquisite delicacies they are, for Bourne is a master wordsmith, able to charm, excite or break a reader's heart with the stroke of her pen....My opinion is this is the best novel she has written and destined to be a classic in the romance genre. If you have read Joanna Bourne's work before you know what a compliment this is, and the depths she is capable of." -- Dear Author, Once in a while, during every reader''s literary life, you encounter a book that reminds you why you are a reader. It renews your faith, if faith was lost; it rekindles your interest, if interest waned; and every word, every page, is a wonder. Adrian and Justine''s story is not only such a book and it confirms Joanna Bourne is one of the best authors currently writing. If Ms. Bourne continues writing at such quality, she would deserve to be called one of the greatest romance authors ever. And I mean that., "Once in a while, during every reader's literary life, you encounter a book that reminds you why you are a reader. Synopsis
He is her enemy. He is her lover. He is her only hope. Someone is stalking French agent Justine DeCabrillac through London's gray streets. Under cover of the rain, the assassin strikes--and Justine staggers to the door of the one man who can save her. The man she once loved. The man she hated. Adrian Hawkhurst. Adrian wanted the treacherous beauty known as "Owl" back in his bed, but not wounded and clinging to life. Now, as he helps her heal, the two must learn to trust each other to confront the hidden menace that's trying to kill them--and survive long enough to explore the passion simmering between them once again., Attacked on a rainy London street, veteran spy Justine DeCabrillac knows only one man can help her: Hawker. The only problem is that he also happens to be the enemy. With London crawling with hidden assassins and someone out to frame Hawker for the assault, the two spies seek to find out who's trying to destroy them. The Black Hawk is a much-anticipated release for fans of Joanna Bourne and historical romance. Her previous title, The Forbidden Rose (Berkley, 2010), was chosen as one of Publishers Weekly's Best Books of 2010.
